Message From The Chamber
Conveniently located between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Thibodaux, the Queen City of Bayou Lafourche, retains its southern charm and Cajun hospitality. The City’s motto, “Where Yesterday Welcomes Tomorrow,” is truly reflective of the rich history that makes Thibodaux unique, while it looks forward to the future.
Beautiful and graceful Bayou Lafourche runs through the downtown area of Thibodaux where the city was founded in 1830. The city is graced by moss-laden oaks, plantation homes and lush fields of sugar cane. A drive down Canal Boulevard offers a look into the past. Antebellum homes dating back to the 19th century line both sides of the highway.
Thibodaux offers many sites of interest and offers lots of entertainment throughout the year, both to visitors and residents. Please see the “local sites of interest” under the visitor's tab of this website.
Thibodaux has a history of high employment levels. Its rich land supports sugar cane farming, manufacturing and the oil industry. Thibodaux employers are also diversified, ranging from small businesses and governmental agencies to professional and technical services.
